Reptile wildlife ambassadors
Reptiles are cold-blooded (ectothermic) vertebrates such as snakes, lizards, crocodiles and turtles. They have an external covering of scales or horny plates, usually lay eggs and breathe with lungs. Some reptiles in our collection have permanent injuries sustained in the wild. Most were taken from the wild and raised as pets. Reptiles taken from the wild may quickly lose their niche and may also acquire diseases they can transmit to other wild reptiles. Wild animals do not make good pets.
