Mammal wildlife ambassadors
Mammals are warm-blooded (endothermic) vertebrate animals, including humans. They are characterized by a covering of hair on the skin and, in the female, milk-producing mammary glands for nourishing young. Some mammals in our collection have permanent physical injuries. Many are habituated to people. A wild animal raised around people may lose its natural fear of humans as well as the skills needed to survive in the wild. Even when habituated, wild animals never make good pets as they may become aggressive.
