Wildlife Photography of Dan Elster
Wildlife Photography of Dan Elster
The wildlife photography of Dan Elster will be on display beginning July 7. Come enjoy the work of this self-taught artist.

"I have only been a photographer for about eight years," says Elster. "My subjects are 100 percent wild (no captive or 'staged' shots) and it's important to me that people know that. Capturing behavior and the inclusion of habitat also helps to define my style."

Come meet Elster during an artists reception July 23 from 5:30-7pm at Lindsay Wildlife Museum.

Still-Life Birdwatching
Still-Life Birdwatching
As part of our dedication to wildlife and nature in all forms, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum is proud to welcome the art of Aimee Baldwin. Her art features detailed crepe paper replicas of birds found in the greater Bay Area.

Aimee’s cruelty-free “Vegan Taxidermy” evokes the presence of life through its naturalistic poses and meticulously hand-crafted feather details.

A self-taught sculptor and artist from Berkeley, with a lifelong appreciation for nature, Aimee developed her own techniques for the creation of her paper birds, using relatively basic craft supplies but with painstaking hand work. Her background ranges from a degree in digital media and theater arts, to professional experience in monument sculpture and prototyping mass-market Halloween merchandise.  Aimee’s concern for habitat conservation and environmental issues has motivated her to distance her work from mass production of disposable merchandise. Instead she focuses on individually sculpting unique pieces of art work which emphasize delicate highly-skilled craftsmanship and whose variety reflects the natural variation within the species it honors.

Her work will be on display through September 6, 2010.
