Glossary  
 
Adapting
  Changing to fit new conditions, situations or needs.
   
Amphibian
  Cold-blooded (ectothermic) vertebrates animals such as frogs or salamanders, that characteristically hatch as aquatic larvae with gills. The larvae then transform into adults with air-breathing lungs.
   
Beak
  The bill of a bird, adapted for dietary behaviors.
   
Bill
  The part of a bird's jaw that is covered with a leathery sheath; the beak.
   
Biodiversity
  The diversity of plant and animal species within a geographical region.
   
Bird
  Animals that have adaptations for flight including feathers and light weight, hollow bones.
   
Camouflage
  Concealment by disguise which helps an animal blend with its surroundings.
   
Carnivore
  A meat-eating animal.
   
Carrion
  Dead and rotting body of an animal.
   
Consumers
  Animals that can't make their own food so are dependent upon on producers or other organisms for their energy.
